Benczkowski to be sworn in Wednesday

Diane Benczkowski, an energetic rising star in local politics, is scheduled to be sworn into office as Cheektowaga’s Town Supervisor — only the second woman in history to hold the coveted position in a town where politics is sport.

Benczkowski was a popular town councilwoman and school board member who has quickly risen to the upper echelon of Western New York politics, leading one of the largest and most influential municipalities in the region.

The installation ceremony comes as political observers continue to speculate about Benczkowski’s seemingly endless prospects for higher office. Many have speculated that she may run for State Senate, County Clerk, or County Comptroller.

Benczkowski has a humble demeanor and down to earth personality that has endeared her to voters. Her hard charging style has unsettled some personalities at town hall, but she says that taxpayers deserve change.

The ceremony will be held at 5:30 pm, this Wednesday in the Cheektowaga Senior Center, located at 3349 Broadway Avenue. She will be joined by County Legislator Patrick Burke; highway superintendent Mark Wegner; town clerk Vickie L. Dankowski; and Christine L. Adamczyk, Linda M. Hammer and Gerald P. Kaminski as council members.
