Peoples-Stokes rebrands her mayoral control bill, as “The Community Schools Act”

Assemblywoman Crystal People-Stokes held a rally in support of legislation that has introduced in Albany in recent weeks, for which is seeking passage in the coming days. She is said to have the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is actively pushing the legislation and is thought to have approached Peoples-Stokes with the concept. Her critics have made the claim that Peoples-Stokes may be acting at the behest of the Governor.

Dr. Gary Orfeild, a civil rights expert who has been tasked with preparing recommendations on taking corrective action to the stark segregation that prevails in Buffalo Public Schools. The Buffalo Board of Education will hear his recommendations at their public meeting tomorrow.
