You scream, I scream — we all scream for Ice cream!

You know you are from Lockport when you are excited that Frey’s takes the plywood off the outside of their place. John and Nanette Frey have been serving the Lockport area custard and ice cream treats since 2001. Frey’s Tasty Treat has a wide variety of cones, sundaes, arctic swirls, cakes, shakes and more. You can walk out behind the stand and you can enjoy your ice cream in their spacious park-like backyard. There is a 4 car wooden train for the kids to sit on while they enjoy their ice cream and there are plenty of picnic tables also. A small covered patio on the side also allows customers to enjoy their ice cream out of the hot sun or safe from the rain.

No matter what you are in the mood for, they will make it for you whether it is in a dish, cone, or one of their decorated waffle cones. To stay on top of the coolest ideas, John and Nanette are active members of NICRA, the National Ice Cream Retailer’s Association. NICRA members from across the U.S. met in St. Petersburg, Florida last November for the 82nd Annual Convention. Nanette is a Past President and Board Member of the Association.

They offer soft serve custard in Vanilla, Chocolate, and Flavor of the Week, Fat-free Sugar-free Vanilla & Chocolate Flavor Burst Ice Cream, Perry’s Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Fat-free Frozen Yogurt, no sugar added Ice Cream and Ice Cream Cakes.

Cakes are a double layer made with fresh creamy chocolate custard, a rich chocolate fudge cookie crunch center topped with delicious vanilla custard. Each cake is frosted with a whipped topping and decorated with sprinkles. They are happy to personalize your cake for you.

Traditional cake is also available with all vanilla custard or all chocolate custard. Special designs available for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Specialty cakes include Turtle Cake Made just like their traditional ice cream cake but with a double layer of pecans in the middle and pecans on the outside too, Dirt Cake This cake features a rich chocolate fudge oreo cookie center and is decorated with oreo cookie crumbs and gummy worms, Banana Split Cake made with delicious custard, this cake features a rich chocolate fudge cookie crunch center and layered with bananas, strawberries, and pineapple. I just saw this was open so after dinner we went out for ice cream. This is one of the guilty pleasures I allow myself that we pay full price for. I usually get a hot fudge made with the custard flavor of the week. If they have cherry, orange, raspberry or pistachio when you go, have a hot fudge made with this rather than the traditional vanilla. It is delicious. My wife had a small bowl of the vanilla chocolate swirl custard. It is now officially spring.

Getting out of the lot is dicey so I suggest you just turn left and handle it from there.
