A short take on today’s news

–I have never been to a meat raffle, but think it might be fun. Who wants to go on Saturday, Jan. 28 to support David Johnson’s Spartans Little League baseball? We will buy a table for $40 if 6 other people want to join us. https://www.facebook.com/wnyspartansbb/photos/gm.1254119574651576/343892022641693/?type=3&theater

–God Bless Suzanne K. Taylor for hooking me and Joey up with Sabres tickets, even if they lost. Suzanne’s favorite charity is Habitat for Humanity, and specifically, helping President Carter and his wife Roslyn. If you would like to learn more or donate, you may do so here. http://www.habitat.org/vol…/build-events/carter-work-project

–The terrorist wanted for driving his car into that German Christmas market was found, confronted, started a shootout and killed in Milan, Italy. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/berlin-suspect-killed-1.3910441

–A bully got thrown off a commercial flight for harassing Ivanka Trump. His husband celebrated the crime in Twitter. Ivanka did not lose her shit. I would have. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/…/Ivanka-Trump-aggressively-conf…

–Interesting the WBEN vernacular that used to involve calling those with opposing viewpoints “sheeple” has evolved. Now if you don’t agree you are a “special snowflake.”

–Speaking of interesting media vernacular, Geoff Kelly beats up on Artvoice for publishing a Carl Paladino Christmas list filled with off color racist humor. http://www.dailypublic.com/…/paladinos-racist-hateful-total…

–My Linked In profile was updated Friday to bring Mass Mutual approval. Please add me to your connections. I promise not to spam you. https://www.linkedin.com/in/joegenco

–The 4 question test: Only Christina Abt answered Thursday. Please paste below and answer. My answer is in the comments:
“ What advice can you give about how to live life?”
“What is the best thing to ever happened to you?”
“What is the worst thing that ever happened to you?”
“If you were on the world stage with a microphone, what can humanity do to love better?”

–A Calgary man who launched himself in a balloon-lifted lawnchair and intended to parachute into the Stampede has been fined $5,000. No word on how the stunt did for his cleaning business. http://www.cbc.ca/…/calgary-daniel-boria-balloon-man-plea-1…

–I love Derek Trucks. I also love Marc Maron. Here they are, together for a podcast. I haven’t listened yet but know my time (and yours) will be well spent. http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episode-770-derek-trucks

–Is there a more insulting phrase to describe a music genre than “saccharin mom pop” asking for my therapist who hates the phrase.

–Boyd Curiosity: Those of us not incarcerated would hardly say we live in a police state, but the United States does have more police per capita than any other nation.

–I hated Richard Sherman when he ran Dan Carpenter. This Players Tribune article makes me feel a little better. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/richard-sherman-seahawks…/…

–In what world is “premium beer” a 16 oz. Mike’s Hard Black Cherry? Bogosian is solid. So is seeing, and hearing Conehead’s beer vendor patter: “Cold Labatt’s Blue Light. Peanuts,” and “$8.50, I said cold, not cheap” and watching him pull out his magnifying glass to check a birthdate. I miss hearing Lindy whistle for line changes.
