Fisher discusses hiring disparities in construction

Charlie Fisher, the widely respected President of BUILD and longtime community activist hosted The Advocator with Nikita Williams to discuss ongoing efforts to force LP Ciminelli and other government contractors to meet minority hiring and contracting goals.

LP Ciminelli has been unwilling to hire minorities at levels that the firm committed to prior to receiving several government contracting projects, including the massive Solar City project that has been heralded as the focal point of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s ‘Buffalo Billion’ initiative. The local construction industry is booming and hiring levels are at historic highs, but the minority community has been largely excluded from those economic gains.
