Golombek announces March 4th fundraiser

Councilman Joe Golombek, who is considered politically unbeatable in the Common Council’s North District, has announced a fundraiser for March 4th — this Wednesday.

The fundraiser will be held at the American Legion Post on Amherst Street, which is a departure for Golombek. He typically holds his fundraisers at the Polish Cadets Hall a few blocks away.

Golombek is known as a hardworking and honest Councilman who has earned applause for taking difficult positions in defense of residents. His support of the Columbus Park residents who have long fought for environmental justice on the Westside has earned him enormous goodwill in the community.

Golombek is the Chairman of the Common Council’s Community Development Committee, a key position that has put him at the crux of many controversial issues.

Golombek has been the city’s most forceful elected official on a range of community development issues — from saving the Trico Building from demolition; to calling for a federal investigation into the Westside’s shocking asthma epidemic; to advancing the objectives of new urbanism and high quality urban design.
