Biden tells inner circle that he will not run again, will not endorse Harris

President Joe Biden has spoken with his inner circle of political advisors and has agreed not to seek a second term in office, but he has no plans of endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris during the next Democratic Presidential Primary nominating process.

Senior figures inside the White House are factoring into three camps, which have been coalescing around different cabinet figures in anticipation of a leadership battle over control of the party.  Increasingly, it’s agreed that Harris is a problematic standard-bearer to succeed Biden.

Several senior figures in the administration are backing the prospective candidacy of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, while others have been promoting Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, Housing Secretary Marcia Fudge, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

Meanwhile, White House communications operatives intend to affirm Biden’s intention to seek reelection “for as long as that narrative is viable” in order to avoid “lame-duck” analogies.
