If Grand River Enterprises was remitting its $240 million a year in tobacco excise taxes to the Haudenosaunee government, the community would be capable of funding SNEC’s $76 million annual operating budget while enjoying $164 million a year for new services, infrastructure, enterprise development, and educational programs. That scenario would allow for greater economic self-determination and independence from the Crown.
