Santabarbara announces military banner program

The City of Amsterdam in conjunction with local partners will be announced details of its’ new Military Banner Program at Amsterdam City Hall on Tuesday.  The program gives residents the opportunity to honor both active military and veterans who served in any branch of the Armed Forces. Applications can be found and processed via the City of Amsterdam website at amsterdamny.gov.

City of Amsterdam Mayor Michael Villa stated, “We can never do enough to honor those who have served our Country, their sacrifices are unparalleled.  We also need to give a big thank you to Rocky Parisi for coming to us with this idea, her thoughtfulness has made this possible.”

The banners will cost $175 each, which covers all expenses associated with production and installation.  Images of the banner along with a biography of the honoree will be permanently placed on our Heroes webpage.

“Amsterdam’s new Military Banner Program honors the brave men and women from our community who served our country in the armed forces. These banners are a reminder of their remarkable courage and show our appreciation for their sacrifice for our great nation,” Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara said.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a banner or making a donation to help offset costs for those who may not be able to afford a banner can do so by visiting the City’s website.
