Expansion would allow the State Park to relocate its Welcome Center and other auxiliary facilities away from the precipice of the Falls. As tourists look for more authentic, eco- and culturally-oriented experiences, many industry experts believe that Goat Island and Prospect Point should be as undeveloped a landscape as possible. Design critics have called for removing the large surface parking lots and unnecessary roadways that have blighted the natural monument.
