A short take on today’s news —
Seeing our President cutting funding to shithole countries conflicts me. If your problem is with desperate people invading your country because there is no hope in their country, what is the logic of making it even worse in their country?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez misspoke again but don’t worry, Fox News is on top of it as quickly as a graphic about 3 Mexican countries.
So I thought about the hectoring self-importance from Algernon. He told me about how he brought meaningful dialogue to our discussions and claimed we would be in an echo chamber without him. A week later, I see no difference in our dialogue, just a kinder tone. I think we are better off without mean-spirited bullies. I will judge the worth of the abrasive with empathy toward a kindly Tennessee grandmother. When your tone threatens to chase her away, you need to go.
Spawned on communism, thriving on capitalism, in charge but compassionate. A profile in success. From Romania with love.
The incivility of social media. Can’t we all just get along? This feels like my life on Facebook. People are meaner behind a keyboard than they would ever be face-to-face.
WNY Weather: 2 (36) today. 10 (50) tomorrow, mostly nice both days. I am very likely taking a break from Short Take for several days to work on some things. Message or call if you need me,
Mourning the loss of our dive bars. I never much fit in those places anyway.
It’s local restaurant week. We have a habit of not participating.

Boyd Curiosity: How many hands are possible in a 52-card deck? 2,598,960. If you dealt a hand every second it would take more than a million years to play all of the combinations.
The caribou are moving north. Hunting grounds have changed. The First Nations people blame climate change. More people would be better off if they read Farley Mowatt’s books.
The Rolling Stones will not be milking their fans for exorbitant ticket prices this summer because Mick Jagger is 75 and his doctor’s reminded him. No word on what happened when the Devil came back for Keith but I have my suspicions. “The devil bowed his head Because he knew that he’d been beat And he laid that golden fiddle On the ground at (Keith’s) feet.”
Never trust a man in a Make America Great Again Hat. They may show up with a sword at a roller rink and slash innocent people.
There is joy in Lubbock. Texas Tech is going to the Final Four.
Remember when Sidd Finch, the Buddhist pitcher, signed with the Mets? He threw 165 mph and pitched barefoot according to George Plimpton.
If you really wanna know, Sabres lost, 4-0.
